London Wetlands Centre Wedding Photography – Zia and Lee

London Wetlands Centre wedding photographer

I was delighted to help Zia and Lee as their London Wetland Centre wedding photographer. The day started for me in the picturesque Richmond, a leafy Borough of London close to the river thames and home to many conservation areas and parks. I love photographing weddings in Richmond and who wouldn’t. It’s very local to me and is an area I know very well. A great area for getting away from the bustle of London not to mention plenty of great restaurants and pubs. The views aren’t too shabby either!

I met Lee and his group of friends at the Rose of York B&B. What a fun and friendly bunch of guys. Very relaxed and welcoming it made my job of capturing the guys getting prepared for the day ahead an easy one. The rooms were baking hot so it was a relief to venture outside to grab a few informal portraits before heading up to St Matthias church which is close to the fantastic Richmond park. There was a few concerns when we were greeted to a locked church and had to make a few nervous phone calls. This gave me time to help the guys with tie and button hole adjustments. A skill I’ve had to learn over the years! Panic over and we ventured to the nearest pub for some pre-wedding drinks to calm the nerves.

Zia arrived looking majestic at the church and was walked down the aisle by her father. A really lovely ceremony took place before everyone gathered outside for the confetti shots. The London Wetland Centre is around a 15 minute drive from the church in Richmond and the guts took a coach while Zia and Lee where whisked away in the wedding car. The guests gathered in the Observatory which looks over the wetlands with the London skyline as the backdrop. What a great way to enjoy your canapé’s and glass of champagne. There are lots of open spaces at the wetlands centre so lots of photo opportunities in the water meadows to make full use of this beautiful venue. With the formal photos out of the way it was time to get the party started. After the meal and speeches Zia and Lee really got stuck in to the first dance. I might have to get some tips on some dance moves.

What a fun day with a lovely relaxed couple. Here are some photos that I took from the day.
